Marketing
Mailchimp
Mailchimp is the long-standing default for SMB marketing email. Authentication uses two CNAME records (k1, k2) instead of customer-managed TXT keys, plus an SPF include.
DNS records to publish
| Type | Host | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | k1._domainkey | dkim.mcsv.netDKIM key 1 |
| CNAME | k2._domainkey | dkim2.mcsv.netDKIM key 2 |
Authentication setup
SPF
Optional; Mailchimp aligns DKIM by default. Add include:servers.mcsv.net if you want SPF alignment.
DKIM
Publish the two CNAMEs Mailchimp shows in the domain authentication step.
DMARC
Standard rollout; Mailchimp aligns DKIM by default when domain authentication is set up.
Deliverability tips
- Run a re-engagement campaign before importing an old list — Mailchimp's spam-trap exposure makes stale lists very expensive.
- Enable Mailchimp's send-time optimisation; engagement-based send time is one of the few automation features worth the cost.
- Avoid the default 'no-reply@' address: many filters down-rank it.
